About charred spruce

The traditional Japanese yakisugi (shou-sugi-ban) process burns the timber's surface to seal and stabilise it. The result is a beautifully textured cladding with enhanced resistance to rot, insects and UV, and a striking visual character. Each board carries a unique charred grain — no two installations look the same.
