There's a reason alder is the wood of choice inside a proper Finnish sauna. It stays comfortably cool to the touch at temperatures that would blister softwoods, it doesn't sap or leach resin when the sauna gets hot and humid, and it takes on a soft, honey-glow patina over years of use.

This is solid black alder tongue-and-groove sauna panelling from Solideco, a small mill in Latvia we work with directly. The slim 15 mm profile clips together cleanly and hides its fixings, so your walls and ceiling read as one continuous plane of grain.
